Pulse-MD is a resource created by Salient to provide invaluable feedback to hospitals regarding their physicians.
Physician relationships are without a doubt critical to a hospital. Physicians obviously influence patient utilization of a hospital. Physicians also are a wellspring of information regarding the operation of a hospital. The challenge is accessing that information in a non-threatening, systematic, and confidential manner. Pulse-MD was created in response to this challenge.
Hospitals and some physicians do communicate on a regular basis. These physicians usually fall into the category of Interactive Supporters or Interactive Antagonists. Hospitals generally know where these physicians stand. They are the vocal minority on a medical staff.
There is a third category we call the Reticent Physician. As the name implies, Reticent Physicians are the MDs that mind their own business, are not inclined to get overly involved with hospital affairs, and generally refrain from expressing themselves. The challenge is that from this silent majority come your unanticipated surprises, both good and bad. Pulse-MD was created in response to this challenge.
Pulse-MD is not designed to supplant hospitals' responsibility to effectively communicate with physicians. Pulse-MD is designed to augment communication in response to the significant challenges facing the physician-hospital relationship. As one Hospital CEO recently stated,
"I may not necessarily want to hear it, but I dare not ignore what my physicians think and feel about this organization."
Pulse-MD involves personal interviews with physicians selected by hospital leadership. The key to our success is establishing trust, maintaining confidentiality, possessing the skills to ask the right questions, and having the ability to articulate physician sentiments effectively to hospital leadership.
Pulse-MD will assist you in getting your finger on the pulse of your physicians.
